The African Scholars Association Ireland (AfSAI) is pleased to announce the launch of the 3rd cycle of the UCD Bridging Generations African Mentoring Programme, taking place on 24 September 2026.
Delivered in collaboration with AfSAI, UCD Alumni and PMIA, the programme is designed to create meaningful connections between students and experienced professionals who are willing to share their knowledge, experience, and guidance.
At the heart of the programme is a simple but important goal: to support the confidence, professional development, and career prospects of the next generation of African scholars and professionals.
This year, the programme is especially encouraging professionals who did not attend University College Dublin to join the mentor pool. Participation as a mentor is not restricted to UCD graduates, and AfSAI particularly encourages its members, as well as academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and other experienced practitioners, to contribute their expertise.
Mentorship can play a significant role in helping students and early-career professionals navigate academic and professional pathways. Beyond offering advice, mentors can provide perspective, share lessons learned through experience, broaden professional networks, and help mentees approach opportunities and challenges with greater confidence.
By bringing together experienced professionals and emerging scholars, the Bridging Generations programme seeks to strengthen intergenerational knowledge exchange and build a supportive network that connects African students with professionals across academia, industry, business, and other sectors.
AfSAI warmly invites both new and returning mentors to participate in this year’s programme and contribute to the development of future African scholars and professionals.
