The African Scholars Association of Ireland (AfSAI) is governed by a structured Executive Committee responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and institutional accountability.

AfSAI operates as a voluntary, membership-based scholarly association. Governance is guided by:

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee provides oversight of strategy, programming, partnerships, membership engagement, and financial stewardship.
AfSAI is led by a nine-member Executive Committee comprising the following officers:
Chairperson
Provides overall strategic leadership and institutional representation.
Responsible for guiding the association’s direction, overseeing executive decisions, and serving as the primary representative of AfSAI in external engagements.
Vice Chairperson
Supports the Chairperson and contributes to strategic planning, coordination, and governance continuity.
Secretary
Oversees administrative coordination, official documentation, meeting records, and organisational communication within the executive structure.
Treasurer
Responsible for financial oversight, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Vice Chairperson for Membership
Leads membership recruitment, engagement, and retention initiatives. Oversees membership review processes and ensures inclusive participation.
Vice Chairperson for Community Liaison
Coordinates external engagement with community organisations and diaspora networks. Strengthens AfSAI’s community-based partnerships.
Vice Chairperson for Fundraising
Develops funding strategies, sponsorship initiatives, and sustainability plans in alignment with AfSAI’s long-term goals.
Vice Chairperson for PhD Student Relations
Advocates for doctoral candidates within the association. Supports mentorship, welfare, and academic engagement initiatives for student members.
Vice Chairperson for Welfare and Communication
Oversees member well-being initiatives and ensures clear, structured internal and external communication.
